So I stumbled into Guardian fandom by way of The Untamed. I had never watched cdramas before and one day I saw a youtube video about The Untamed and I was all: What dis?
Then I noticed The Untamed was on Netflix and I was like: 40 episodes? That's a lot but okay!
Then I started watching it. Do not get me wrong The Untamed's first episodes were so confusing, but I stuck with it. And OMG I was like: Dis so good.
At that point Netflix in all its infinite algorithm glory was like: HEY YOU MIGHT LIKE HEAVEN'S OFFICIAL BLESSING.
So I was like ehhh okay. And then I was really like: OMG dis so good. So, let's just say I ran down the rabbits hole into c and kdramas. So much so. LOL. I do not regret it!
But then Guardian was thrown my way and I was like: Dis looks good. BUT - and it's a big but here - I have learned to eyeball the ending at this point when it concerns c and kdramas because of the infinite sads of their endings.
As such, I peek at Guardian's ending and was like: Oh hell naw. Normally I don't mind sad endings and such, but at that particular time in my life I was going through a super rough patch at work and it was soul crushing, so I just couldn't. COULDN'T take the sads.
Eventually though, I kept seeing Guardian stuff and I was like: ok I'm going to watch it but I'll never watch the last episode. NEVER.
Which evolved into binge watching the entire show in like three days straight, and watching the last episode, and then rolling into fan fiction because that ending. THAT. ENDING.
And now I stay for the fan fiction - so much fan fiction - and I'm leaning towards rewatching the whole show again for a second time, to pick up on all the little things I've missed when I first binge watched it.
I've asked myself why I really whole-heartedly love this particular show and it really comes down to the group of actors in the show. The two MLs and the SID crew threw all of themselves into the roles and it just shows. Sometimes the show's story telling creaked a little, but with how the actors and actresses played their roles it was awesome.
All the tropes are some of my fave too. Stoic and melodramatic couple, so much hurt and sometimes comfort, the nice swishy powers and so much more.
And to find the fandom still running strong 3 years down the line is so awesome. I just really got into Guardian fandom at the beginning of 2021 and yet so many stories. And art and so much fun, it's really great.
Anyway I have rambled enough. I'm sure I will ramble more later :D
